At Evergreen Pug Rescue, our process is simple and focused on finding the best match for both the pug and their future family. As dogs become available, our adoption team carefully reviews applications with the goal of making the ideal rescue match. We consider each dog’s unique background—personality, temperament, energy level, comfort with kids and other pets, medical needs, and more—as well as your family’s lifestyle and needs. We pride ourselves on thoughtful placements to ensure that every pug finds their perfect forever home.
Do you live outside Washington state? Not a problem! We welcome adopters from across Washington and encourage you to review our adoption requirements if you’re outside the immediate area.
Interested in adopting but unsure about commitment? Consider fostering! Fostering is a wonderful way to get to know the dogs in rescue without the pressure of a permanent decision. And if you fall in love with your foster pug, we fully support foster families adopting, as long as it’s a great fit. Evergreen Pug Rescue works with fosters all over Washington and even extends into neighboring states, including Idaho and Montana too!
To begin the adoption process, submit an adoption application on our website. It’s always best to apply for the pup that has captured your heart but also don’t get your heart too fixated on that one pup either. We often get many applications for a single pup so it’s good to manage expectations.
Once your application is in, an Adoption Coordinator will be in touch to get to know you better and begin the process. Your Adoption Coordinator will be your main point of contact throughout the adoption process. We’ll chat for us to get to know you better (and you to get to know us better too),what you’re looking for in a pug, your lifestyle, rescue readiness, and begin talking about pugs that might be a good fit and of interest. We’ll also talk about how we do home check and references.
Once you’ve completed your home check and reference checks, the Adoption Coordinator will begin the process of matching you with the foster families for the pugs you’re interested in. The foster families will reach out to begin the next steps of really talking about the pug’s personality, needs, and history to ensure a good match.
If it seems like a great fit on both sides, you’ll be cleared to schedule a “meet and greet.” Depending on location, sometimes a virtual meet and greet can be a great option too.
Once everyone has met it’s determined to be a perfect match on both sides, the Adoption Coordinator will be back in contact to coordination sending the adoption contract and the adoption donation.
Between you and the foster family, you’ll pick out the perfect day to make your rescue a permanent addition to your home. It’s gotcha day! We can’t wait to see your updates and happily ever afters.
